The Prague Quadrennial offers individual countries and regions as well as individual artists, an opportunity to present best works of performance design as part of competitive national, student and architecture exhibitions and participate in the festival that includes variety of accompanying projects and activities. The 14th edition of PQ will be announced in May/June 2017. All calls for the participation will be issued after July 2017. We can't process any proposals until the call is issued, so please, don't send us your ideas for the main PQ event yet. In the meantime stay tuned for all other activities and calls that are scheduled between the main events.
The main competitive PQ exhibitions: the Exhibition of Countries and Regions, the Student, Young Designers, Emerging Design Studios exhibition and the Theatre and Performance Space Architecture exhibition are only open to each country's official organizing entity. Each country or region names a national curator and/or organizing institution that is responsible for organizing, financing, and artistically supervising the country's PQ exhibition. Countries' applications to this section are not subject to curatorial review by PQ; all are accepted.
The curator of the Czech exposition is named on the basis of a tender announced by the Czech Ministry of Culture.
A call for applications for the next PQ in 2019 will be published in 2017.
Between the main events, PQ serves as the international platform for performance design and scenography that brings together students, artists and theorists by organizing a variety of projects. There are many open calls for participation in workshops, symposia, presentation series, residencies and other performance design events.
